Reflecting on the Weekend

Today I was going through the pictures from the weekend.  There was a lot going on that I documented with photos. Here are a few thoughts from the weekend...

When I went upstairs, Cannon was washing his hands at the kitchen sink.  When I came back down, he was IN the kitchen sink.  He was so cute in the sink...quiet, relaxing and enjoying the view out of the kitchen window.

It is tradition that I pull out the Christmas boxes and start decorating the day after Thanksgiving.  Colson was helping this year and his favorite decoration was the silver garland.

The mess of toys the boys create...along with the mess I created from the Christmas items.

The boys started to take a bath together this weekend.  Colson likes the room he has in the tub and all of the "new" bath toys.  Cannon likes to show Colson all of the toys in the tub and is a great big brother!

It was beautiful outside part of the weekend and we spent time enjoying the sun. Cannon, of course, hooked Colson up to the bungee cord so he, "couldn't get away."  Too funny!

We put batteries in the airplane this weekend and Colson has enjoyed playing it.  He's so darn cute!

Cannon is also enjoying the airplane!  He was hooked on the lights on the front propeller.

Colson's first Thanksgiving!  He loved eating everything we put in front of him!

Cannon has had fun watching marshmallows in the microwave.  They get huge.  Of course he eats them after that!

Chris is looking through the ads Thanksgiving night.  No, he didn't go shopping!

Sweet Cannon.  Love this kid!

Go Seahawks!

Thank you to Sebastian and Mindy for taking us to the Seahawks game at Centurylink Field!

The weather was a bit soggy, but we stayed dry with our hats and ponchos!
The seats were awesome and as close as you could get to the field...without actually being on the field!
The food was yummy but way over priced.
The game was close and fun to watch.  However the Hawks lost 17-20 against the Redskins.  :(

What a fun day!

Enjoying every moment.

Grateful

 I am grateful.....

...for you.

....and you.

...and you.

I am grateful for every single, wonderful thing these three bring to my life.
For all of the meals I cook...
For all of the toys I pick up...
For all of the laundry I fold and put away...
For all of the books piled everywhere...
For all of the cleaning up I do...
For all of the photos...
For all of the memories...

Why am I thankful for all of these things?
Simple.
Because if I didn't have all of the these things in my life,
it would mean that I wouldn't have Chris, Cannon and Colson.

Enjoying every moment!

First Conference

Today was a first for me....I attended Cannon's conference for preschool!

I am a pro at leading conferences...twice a year for 27'ish' kids for 13 years.

However, today I was excited to hear what Cannon's teachers, Miss Teresa and Miss Gina would say about Cannon.

A few things they said:
He is a good thinker and they can see his "wheels turning" in his head.
He is a good model.
He is a good friend to the other students.
He always tries to include his classmates.
He likes to give suggestions.
He is creative.
He likes to listen to books.
He likes to dance...but doesn't like to sing.
He gets 'squirmy' sometimes at the rug.
He doesn't like to be corrected and gets embarrassed.
Cannon does a nice job writing his name.
He can count to 20 (but misses 15).
He knows many of his letters.
He knows all of his colors.
He rhymes like crazy.
He can recognize word parts and can tell the beginning parts of words.

I know there were a few more things, but I can't remember!  I was pleased with what I heard.  He received all "3's" on his report card.   They also had a nice portfolio started for him.   I'm excited to see what else they will put in it.

I loved being on the "other side" of the conference....the parent instead of the teacher.  I appreciated all they had to say about Cannon!

I am so proud of him.  Cannon loves school and he is learning so much!

Enjoying every moment.

Haircut!

Tonight was hair cutting night.  Chris cut Cannon's hair first and then cut his own.  Pretty soon, Chris will be cutting Colson's hair, too!

(I'll continue to go to my hair stylist, thank you very much!)

Embracing the Everyday

This weekend really was just about the everyday details.
We did nothing special, yet everything about the weekend was special.

Saturday morning, Cannon reminded me about how it really is the little everyday things that are important. He realized that he didn't have to get dressed to go to school because it was Saturday.  He went running down the hallway shouting, "We have a day off!  Today is a day off!"  And he stayed in his jammies until well past noon!  It's amazing what makes him happy!

This weekend, I found myself overwhelmed with gratitude with a trip to the store by myself.  Not only did I get to the grocery store by myself, but to the mall to make a few returns, too.  It was so nice to walk through the stores with only my thoughts in my head.

This weekend, the everyday tasks of laundry and cleaning the kitchen were accomplished without the overwhelming feeling that they sometimes bring.  Why, I wonder?  I don't know the answer but I do know that I embraced those tasks, realizing they needed to be done, so there wasn't any reason to feel overwhelmed.  And they were accomplished and checked off the list before I knew it.

This weekend, we enjoyed the company of the neighbors.  We sat.  We ate.  We talked.  We laughed.  We watched the boys.  We made a fire.  Nothing out of the ordinary.  But oh, so wonderful.  (I left out the part that the Huskies lost....that wasn't wonderful!)

This weekend, Colson was crawling and pulling himself up.  He was into everything and pulling things out of drawers, pulling toys out of containers, pulling books out of baskets, pulling pictures off of shelves, etc.  We smiled the whole time watching him even though he was making a mess.  He was having fun.  He is learning.  These are the moments we'll recall years later as we discuss Colson as an 8 month old.

This weekend, Cannon was so content doing so many different things.  The key is that he was content.  He played quietly by himself.  He played outside with Chris.  He watched Word World.  He went to church with me.  He read books.  He drew.  He hung out at the neighbors.  He helped me cook.  He talked.  He was creative.  He used his imagination.  He is amazing!

This weekend, Chris and I worked a lot at home on our own "to do" lists, but we were home together.  When one of us needed to run somewhere, we did and took turns with the boys.  We accomplished some things together.  We accomplished some things alone.  But we were never far from each other.

This weekend, I was reminded to embrace the everyday things.

It is what it is.

Things happen exactly as they are supposed to happen.  So don't fight it.  Embrace it.

Impromtu family picture....all in our Husky clothes!
The boys at Greg and Brenda's house watching the Huskies loose.  :(
Colson loves to turn the handle bars.
It won't be long and he'll be on the move!

Enjoying every moment.

Friday

So glad it's Friday.  Not that it was a bad week....I just love Friday's.

I love knowing I don't have to prepare for the next day.
I love that I don't have to make lunches or set out clothes.
I love that I have two days in front of me to get things done...whatever those things are.
I love that I feel relaxed on Friday's.
I love hanging out with the family.
I love spending time doing things I don't have time to do during the week.

Here are a few photos from today.

The book fair is going on at our school and Cannon chose a
book this morning.  (Cars, of course.)  He was reading...and
eating an apple...as he was waiting to go to preschool.  So
darn cute!  I love this kid!

Cannon was riding around on the Radio Flyer this evening.
He was full of energy....and making very loud motor noises!

Colson couldn't get enough of daddy tonight. Every time
Chris put him down, Colson crawled right back up in his
arms.  He definitely wanted to be held tonight!
After dinner, Cannon played quietly with his trucks and
trailers. Quite a difference from earlier!
 Enjoying every moment!

Day at Heathers

Today the kids went to Heather's house.  She is watching them now on Monday and Friday.  Cannon was so excited and talked all about it when he got home.  He showed us his starfish that Heather made him (out of playdough) and was so happy that he got to spend "the WHOLE day" at Heather's house!

Colson did great, too...but was getting used to a new place to sleep.  During his first nap, he fell asleep sitting up!

Thank you Heather for the pictures from today!

Keeping Himself Busy

Colson kept himself busy with the cans of food!  Who needs toys!  It was the Tupperware drawer a few days ago and the canned food cabinet today!

The pictures tell it all....

I love my boys!
I love Saturdays.
I love being together.
I love my husband.
I love laughing and being silly.
I love making memories!

At Our House...

At our house we make a lot of memories, but we also record them, too.  We love looking back at old scrapbooks and I am thankful to have those memories documented.

Chris made this nice board to hang on the wall so
I can display my scrapbook pages before they go in an album.

At our house we like to cook...sometimes!  When there is time, I love to cook.  During the week when I am working...not so much!  Today, Cannon and I made rice crispy treats!  He loves to help with everything!

Cannon is stirring the marshmallows.

At our house we play hide and seek!  Cannon is very creative when playing.  He dumped all of his toys out and spent an hour hiding, arranging stacking, etc.

Where is Cannon?

There he is!
At our house we love seeing daddy!  It's always exciting when he comes home from work!

Colson is smiling at daddy!
At our house we eat pizza on English Muffins...on Halloween plates...even though Halloween is over!

At our house we shop at Old Navy. I dragged Cannon and Colson to the mall for a quick trip and found a couple of small things.

At our house we play in the Tupperware drawer and make a mess!  Who needs toys when you have Tupperware!

Colson loves the Tupperware!

At our house we read.  We read a lot.   We have books stashed everywhere.  In the living room, in the bonus room, in the bedrooms...

The "mess" next to Cannon's bed.
At our house we do early bed times!  Both boys were in bed by 7pm!  Usually, Colson is the only one sleeping at this time, but Cannon needed to hit the sack early tonight!  He didn't have an afternoon nap, had a busy day and was just plain tired!

Enjoying every moment!
