Carnival Day 2

Face painting.  Check.
Horse rides. Check.
Games. Check.
Food. Check.
Pictures. Check.
Candy. Check.
Prizes. Check.

Yes, today we went to another carnival/rodeo at Sebastian's store.  They are celebrating the one year anniversary of their store: Eastside Harley.

Cannon loved getting his face painted and says he is NOT going to wash it off!
Colson wore his cowboy hat around and everyone thought he was just the cutest, including us!
We had pictures taken in the photo booth...lots of them!  And it was so fun!
The boys tried their first bites of cotton candy.  Both hated it.  (thank goodness!)

Hello Friday Night Fun!

Tonight was the school Carnival.  This year, the carnival, Bingo Night and a silent auction were all combined.
I always look forward to these nights...seeing so many families out having a great time, kids enjoying themselves, laughter, etc.

One of the 4th Grade Projects for the Auction.
Colson got to stay at home with Granny.  And they had so much fun playing.  Colson, of course, was in charge and told Granny exactly what his wanted.  :)

Cannon, Chris and I cruised up to the Carnival in the Chevelle.  It has been beautiful all week long and it was nice to enjoy the weather this evening.  The blue sky and mountain view were absolutely amazing.

Loved the drive!

Cannon took a quick nap on the way up to school.

I had to work selling tickets the first part, so Chris took Cannon around to play the games, get his face painted, purchase a balloon hat and eat.  Cannon loved his hot dog and apples with caramel.  Both Chris and Cannon got their faces painted and Cannon got a lot of compliments on his balloon hat!

Having so much fun!

When I asked Cannon what he liked best about tonight, he said that he loved the face painting (but was totally emotional when he realized that it washed off in the shower!) Also, he really liked the balloon hat and balloon sword.

There were many stories from tonight with so many details.  But I am too tired to be specific!

Enjoying every moment.

It's SO Cannon

Daily, we are left in hysterics and/or amazed at the things Cannon says or does.

I've been awful about writing them down.  I know I will soon forget!

However, here are a few I do remember:

Mrs. Jewell (Cannon's Teacher):  "Who can tell me what probability means?"
Cannon:  "It's the life cycle of something that's going to happen."

(He meant the likeliness, not life cycle!)

************************************************************************
Here is what Cannon does to keep his toys away from Colson...

He puts them up high!  Problem solved...for now.

************************************************************************
Cannon said to me as we were sitting down to read books before bed:

"Mom, I want to talk about fluency."

Really?!  Only out of the mouth of a teacher's child!
So we did talk about fluency...what it means, what it sounds like and what it doesn't sound like.  We practiced reading fluently (and not fluently!)

************************************************************************
Oh, Cannon...you are so funny!  We love you!

Supercross 2013

Thanks to our wonderful and thoughtful friends, Sebastian and Mindy who gave us the tickets, we were able to take Cannon to the Supercross again this year.  We follow the AMA Supercross on TV so when you can go and see the races in person, it's extra special.

We headed downtown to Century Link Field late in the afternoon.  The weather was not promising and had rained off and on all day.

Before we headed in, we stopped for a hot dog lunch.  The vendors on the outside are much less expensive than what you can get when inside the stadium.  We each had the "Special" which was a huge hot dog on a toasted bun, a drink and a bag of chips.

After lunch we headed into the pits to look around. It was pretty crowded in there, but it was still fun to walk around and see all of the big haulers, the motorcycles, the paraphernalia, etc.  It started to rain so we headed for cover to Century Link Field.  We hung out for a while where it was dry before heading to our seats.

It is always exciting when you first walk into a big stadium and see and hear all of the people, the video screens, and the track.  We had good seats, right in front of the triple jumps.

We all enjoyed ourselves, loved eating Kettle Corn, watching the racing, and taking it all in.  It was great to see Mindy, Sebastian and Dillon and catch up with them.  Chris and Sebastian enjoyed a couple of $8.50 beers!  It was a long night for Cannon and he was tired, as were Chris and I.  Cannon immediately fell asleep on the way home.

Good times.  Fun memories!

Enjoying every moment!

Keeping Busy

Colson and I got to hang out today.  We laughed.  We went grocery shopping.  We got hot chocolate.  We played with trucks.  We made pizza.  We played outside.

Colson wanted to stay outside longer than I did, so I went back in to do some chores in the kitchen and Colson kept busy out back.  At one time, he was picking up blocks with the loader and bringing them to the back deck.  Then he found old pieces of wood from the fire pit and was stacking and playing with those.  Finally, he had the charred pieces of wood everywhere and was covered in black.

After he was totally filthy, I had him come in....
....and let him make a wet mess in the kitchen washing his hands in the sink!

And that was all before noon!

Enjoying every moment!

April Randomness

Here are a few random photos from April and a little bit of the story behind them:

Cannon loves the play area at church.  Just this year, he has mastered climbing all the way to the top and loves to slide down the big, twirly slide!  This picture reminds me of the books, Where's Waldo? except we'll title this one:  Where's Cannon?

This is what I see every day.  Colson sitting in his seat, smiling and (usually) enjoying the ride.  I love the view I have!

Chris has been hard at work on the Chevelle and finally got it running and driving after building a new motor and putting in a 5-speed transmission!  He took it out this past week for a test drive.  Just a few more things to finish up and we'll be driving it again....I just have to remember how to drive a stick, now!

Usually when there is quiet, something is happening that isn't suppose to.  I was actually IN the kitchen when Colson was "playing" with the cat food.  I was busy cooking dinner and packing lunches.  I asked him a few times to stop and find something else to do, but making a mess was more fun. And I remember thinking, "Who cares...he's busy and quiet and I can sweep it up later."

Hanging out at Grandpa and Grandma's house...no shirt, propping himself up and eating.  Typical man!  Haha!

Cannon helping me sweep.  I love that he enjoys doing chores and appreciate his help!

Can't Get Enough

No, the warmer weather really isn't here yet.
It's still spring and the wind is cold and the rain is coming.

But we can't get enough time outside!

Whenever the sun is out, I'm pretty sure it is specifically calling our names.  The boys love spending time playing, riding, swinging, throwing, pulling.  The warmth of the sun (when it does come out) feels so good and the fresh air is like food for the soul.

I am thankful for the short bursts of time we can spend outside.
It sure does make a difference!

Enjoying every moment.

Hello Sunday

Today was a crazy day weather wise.  It was cold and windy at times.  The sky was full of clouds and then after awhile, the clouds parted and the sun came out, warming us all up.  Later on, thunder boomed and we had a tremendous hail storm.  We then had rain and finally back to wind and cold.

Cannon LOVED being outside and ended up at Holly and Dave's house.  They were using the backhoe to fill in a trench they dug from the house to the shop.  Cannon even got to work the bucket on the backhoe.  I would say that was the highlight of his day!  He came home totally muddy. I had to strip him down outside and I left his jeans outside for the rain to wash away the mud!

Life Is Wonderful

Inspirational wall art.

Do you have preconceived notions about what your day will be like?  Sometimes I do.  Sometimes I don't think about it.  Sometimes I don't care.  I do know that whenever I plan out what will happen, it doesn't.

You just have to take things moment by moment.  You have to let things roll.  You have to go with the flow.

It's okay to prepare for certain things.
It's okay to think ahead.

But things don't always play out the way you want them.

Of course the moments still may be perfect.  Or not.

But if you have an open mind.
If you take things in stride.
If you believe things unfold for a reason.

Then it's okay.

Life does not have to be perfect to be wonderful.

Today I am thankful for my wonderful life.

Enjoying every moment.

Everyday Ordinary Life

I treasure the ordinary days.
I look forward to a day of no routines.  No time crunches.  No pressure.

These everyday, ordinary days are what make me smile.

Making pancakes.
Staying in sweats all day long.
Cuddling on the couch.
Long talks.
Meeting with good friends.
Girl talk.
Bread dough rising by the fire place.
Time to catch up on memory keeping.
Slowing down.
Watching the boys play.
Flipping channels.
Easy dinner.
Reading magazines.

Enjoying every moment.

Fresh Cut Grass

Who needs toys when you have grass clippings?!

Spring is here, which means a rise from the freezing temperatures (but still cold), lots of rain, daffodils, and blooming trees.  It also means a few sunny days here and there.  And when we get those, we go outside!  It's been so long that we've been able to enjoy the outdoors!

Colson had the best time this evening.  He played in the grass clippings for over an hour.  He had grass everywhere....but it sure was fun!   Fun for him.  For for us to watch!

Cannon enjoyed swinging and helping Chris pick up the grass clippings.

Awesome evening together as a family!

Enjoying every moment.

The Flight Home

Leaving for home after a week vacation is always hard.  But it's always nice to be home, too.

We had a good trip back home from Arizona.  The boys were excellent on the plane.  Colson was tired since he didn't have a nap but he persevered.  We kept busy by reading books, listening to the ipod, playing the tablet, coloring, playing with toys, eating, talking and laughing!

We were the last ones on the plane (on purpose because there is no reason to be on the plane any longer then needed!)  The kind pilots let Cannon sit in the cockpit and let him push the throttles!  So. Very. Exciting.  Thank you for making Cannon's day!

Tired Colson.

Listening to music and eating Smarties.

A little bribery...jellybeans to get him back in his seat belt for landing.

Enjoying every moment.
