Growing Up

These two boys of ours are growing up!

Chris and I are constantly saying how big they are getting, how tall they are getting, how much more they can do, how independent they are, how much older they sound.

Yes, at times it takes us by surprise and we can't believe it.
But mostly we are enjoying it.  We love to watch them and listen to them and see their growth in all areas.
They make us proud.
They amaze us.
They remind us to laugh and enjoy life.

We love these two to the sky and back!

Swimming

We made it through the first week of swimming.  Of course Cannon loves it.  And Colson loves going, too.

Tonight Cannon had the "Elmer Bag" from school which includes Elmer books, an Elmer stuffed animal and a journal.  So we brought Elmer with us to the pool and Cannon started to draw and write about his time with Elmer.  (We are going to have to finish up in the morning because it was getting late!)

What's Going On?

A few things that are going on in our lives right now...things that I probably won't remember.  Things I will be glad I wrote down when read this in years to come.

Colson loves to read his books at night before bed but is up and down all of the time.  He lays down to read on the floor...then goes to hide in the cupboard, then comes back to read, then stacks his books, then gets under his crib, then comes back to read and so on.  Finally, we just turn the light off, which he doesn't like.  But then we sit and snuggle in the rocking chair, sing, talk about the day and laugh.  That is really my favorite part!

Cannon is very into Angry Birds, which he plays on my phone.  We are still a video-game free house and we are hoping to keep it that way for as long as we can.  However Angry Birds was introduced to Cannon by a friend and for a short time every once in a while, I don't think it will hurt anything.  Today, Cannon learned that he needed to "think of a different way to solve the problem" on the game and is also learning patience!

Chris is in Oregon for work.  He left early this morning (4am) to catch a 6am flight.  He is still down in Medford and will be bidding on a big truck for the company.  He's not sure when he is coming home and things are all unknown until after the auction.  He may be flying home tomorrow afternoon or tomorrow night or Thursday morning.

Cannon has started swimming and loves it.  He hasn't had lessons in about 6 months, so this is a good refresher course for him.  Colson loves going and watching, running around, playing with the other younger siblings and smiling at everyone.

The cats, AC mostly (I think) has been bringing in dead, sometimes half eaten mice to "show off."  Sometimes they are right by the front door, or in the kitchen.  Sometimes they are in the living room.  Sometimes he brings them in still partially alive and uses them as play toys.  Totally. Gross.

We are counting the days until Arizona!  Can't wait to get to some warmer weather and some relaxation!

Oh To Be Young Again

Not a care in the world.  Things are done for you for the most part.  You get to play and play and play.

I'd take back just those three things for a week.  *sigh*

Donuts.  They were gone before we even made it to the checkout.  

We enjoyed the beautiful weather with a trip to the park!  Cannon loved playing with all of the other boys and girls there.

Colson is standing in the water with his shoes and socks on, eating a cookie...which he threw in the water soon after.  Colson is definitely the rebel.

The days have been hard lately....exhausting and overwhelming...but the boys always put things into perspective for me.

Movie nights.
Reading.
Watching the kids play.
Recording memories.

Hello Random Photos

AC and DC have been a fun addition to our house.  They are playful and hilarious to watch.  They are also snugly and loving. 

Packing lunches every day.  NOT my favorite thing to do.  

My wonderful 4th graders with their lips or mustaches "on"...a Valentine gift from Chelan to everyone.  This isn't a great picture but I'll be glad I kept it in years to come.  Love!

Looking through Cannon's Friday Folder is something I look forward to each week.  It's the first thing I do when I get home on Friday afternoon!
