July 2018
This year my mom and I took the boys on a week long adventure to explore parts of the Oregon Trail. We started in Baker City and worked our way east to Oregon City. Cannon had just studied the Westward Expansion and Oregon Trail in school, so this was a perfect trip!
Of course, the boys loved swimming in the pool at the hotel. Colson really showed his swimming skills on this trip. He was jumping in the deep end, treading water and more! Both boys LOVE the pool!
This interpretive center was a hit for all of us. Chris and I had been here before and it was worth coming back. There was a lot to see, explore, read and learn. We could have spent even more time, but Colson was getting a bit tired.
We met a horse named Norm. He comes to the center, usually on the weekends.
An amazing part of the trip was walking in the actual ruts made by the wagon trains 175 years ago. Cannon commented how cool it was that he was walking in the same place where the pioneers walked. I had that same feeling.
We went around Mt. Hood and made a few stops along the way.
We found the grave of an unknown pioneer woman.
We also walked to Laurel Hill.
At the museum in Oregon City, we all made candles. This was a hit for the boys.
Enjoying every moment.
