This is Why...

This is why I scrapbook.

Cannon had so much fun (and so did I) going through his baby books.  It was fun to look back at old photos and reminisce about when Cannon was born and the things he did as he a baby.

Buried

Buried.
That used to be my desk.
But my "December Daily" scrapbook project, along with all of the other daily things have taken over.  I can barely function and WILL finish up my scrapbook tomorrow or else.  Then it will be time to clean up...and probably start another project!

Enjoying every moment....because it's about recording the memories of my family...even though I can't stand the mess!

Family trait?!

That's what some say...

I do think that Cannon has the knack, so this 'talent' must run on the Miller side of the family!

Christmas Cookies

I have fond memories of baking Christmas cookies with my mom when I was younger.  Cannon and I have made many baking memories over the last couple of years and the tradition of Christmas baking continues both at our house and while at Grandma's house!

Cannon and Grandma made Gingerbread dough and tomorrow they will make the Gingerbread Men.  I should have recorded the conversations they were having as the baking began.  I loved listening to them....the measuring, the learning, the teaching, the mixing, the sharing, the helping, the questioning, the loving!

Cannon took this photo!  Even he knows it's important
to photograph memories!  Thank goodness because I didn't
get any other photos of the baking on this day!

Today they made some reindeer and some pretzel/rolo creations.  Lots of estimating, counting, sorting and comparing going on during the baking today.  There was also a lot of eating of the M & M's out of the pile!

I love this time of year.  I love baking during the holidays.  I love Christmas treats.  I love that Cannon enjoys this time, too. I overheard him say to grandma, "This is so fun!"  Yes, Cannon.  It is fun.  Fun for grandma, too. And fun for me to watch, listen and take photos!

Sledding

Cannon, Colson and I flew to Spokane early this morning and after a short visit with Auntie Kanga at her house, we made it to Grandma and Grandpa's house.  It's always nice to be here...feels so homey.

This year there isn't much snow...like none at all in some places.  But the weather has been cold enough that the inch or so that did fall a week or so has stuck around in some areas.  So Cannon wanted to take the sled up the hill and go sledding.  After a few times down the bigger hill...that is pretty rocky and has only patchy spots of snow, we moved down to another, more gradual hill.  This was a success since Cannon sled by himself.  It was fun to watch him and it made me remember all of the times we went sledding as kids!  I'm so glad Cannon is making the same wonderful memories!

Make it a Redbox Night

Chris and I rarely sit down to watch movies but enjoy it when we do take the time (and can stay up since we can't start watching until after the boys are in bed!)

The last two nights we have rented movies from Redbox.  I love how you can browse and order and pay for the movie online.  And they are only $1.00!  Actually, I had a coupon for one of the movies, so it was free!

Sunday night we watched, Bad Teacher.
Last night we watched, Friends With Benefits.

Both were good...not great...but decent.

Sticky Mess

Today it was Cannon's turn to make a mess...a sticky mess!

He loves to microwave marshmallows, watch them puff up and then eat them!  Needless to say, he had marshmallow all over his fingers and face.  In fact, I just found some sticky left on his face when I was putting him to bed!

Chocolate Mess

This weekend we got into the yummy Christmas cookies and candies I received from some students at school.  We ate way too much, but it was oh, so good!  Colson liked the pretzels with the Rolo candy melted between it.  It was funny to watch him eat it! And he made a huge mess!

Take the Garbage Out

I've been waiting for this day....

Cannon has taken it upon himself to take out the garbage.  Little does he know, this will be his job from now on!  I wonder how long he'll think that it's 'cool' to take out the garbage?!

Enjoying every moment!

Santa Baby

We have a little Santa Baby in our house....

Colson hates to wear hats and rips them off whenever we put them on.  With the cold weather we are having, we seem to have a little "hat war" daily!
However, he doesn't mind wearing the Santa hat.  I don't know why, but I'm glad he does!

Love this kid.
Love his happy demeanor.
Love how mobile he is now.
Love that the little things excite him.
Love how cute he is.
Love him so much!

This is Just the Beginning

Cannon wanted me to put Colson in his dump truck so he could push him around the house.  The "rides" started out slow but got faster with each lap.  Cannon was actually sliding the truck around the corners...we had to ask him to slow down because we were worried the dump truck would flip over!  Colson had a smile on his face the whole time.  I have a feeling this is just the beginning of what is to come with these two boys!

Reindeer Munch

Cannon has always liked to bake and help me in the kitchen.  I found a recipe for Reindeer Munch in a magazine and today, Cannon and I made a batch to give to his teachers and friends.

We both put on our aprons, which is our tradition when we bake.  Cannon pulled up the stool and he helped measure the ingredients and pour them in the bowl.  Of course, we took a sample of each ingredient we put in:  Chex cereal, pretzels, raisins, M&M's.  In fact, he made ABAB patterns with the green and red M&M's!  (Lots of math skills being integrated while making this recipe!)

Afterward, Cannon helped fill the bags and tie them closed.  I love that he enjoys cooking.  I love that he likes to work with me in the kitchen.  I love that he is excited to make things to give to other people.

Teething

Poor Colson.
His teeth are really bothering him.
He's been not his usual self the last couple of days and has had a hard time sleeping, both for naps and at night.  His little nose is running.  And his mouth hurts.
Oh, the joys of teething.
It's not very often Colson fusses, but he was not a happy camper tonight.

Even though I feel terrible that my baby isn't feeling well and I would do anything to help him get back to his normal, happy self...I still am enjoying every moment.  I enjoy holding him longer.  I enjoy cuddling with him.  I enjoy it when he snuggles in my neck.  I enjoy being a mommy and taking care of him.

Enjoying every moment.

Wednesday's After School

The boys get dropped off at school on Wednesdays.  I enjoy having them there and enjoy heading right home after school instead of stopping to pick them up.

They always keep themselves busy...

Colson makes a big mess in a short amount
of time!

Hmmmm....On top of the cubbies.  Probably
not okay...!

Birdbath

There was a lot accomplished on this Sunday.  But we did stop to relax and enjoy the wonderful warmth of the sun.  Cannon played out back for some time, playing with his red quad and trailer.  Colson crawled around everywhere and put anything he put his hands on into his mouth!

I took a few pictures of Colson sitting in the birdbath.  The birdbath made by his great, great grandpa Anderson.  If I wouldn't have been so worried about Colson falling off the birdbath, I would have taken some time to get a few more decent pictures.  Oh well!

Enjoying every moment.

One Step Closer

The motor went in the jet boat today.
Chris is one step closer to a "finished" boat.
Cannon helped with much of the process!
I think he was as excited as Chris.

Christmas Tree Hunting

I love December.
I love the Christmas holiday.
I love Christmas decorations.
I love getting a tree and decorating it.

The tree tends to bring the biggest excitement, especially for me.  And especially now that Cannon is old enough to understand Christmas and get excited himself.  Watching Cannon's joy about things is amazing.  It gives me a new reason to love the holidays....

I love watching the joy and excitement through a child's eyes.

We went to the Christmas Tree farm down the road where we were greeted by wonderful and friendly older gentlemen who you just know love their "job" this time of year.  They pointed us in the right direction...towards the small trees and I picked one out right away.

Cannon wanted to go look at the hitches (of course) and found a wagon to pull around, similar to the one he plays with at Grandma and Grandpa Anderson's, but with no sides.  He pulled, pushed and backed up that wagon everywhere.  We looked at a few other trees, put our choice on the wagon and then I tried to get some pictures.  Colson enjoyed looking at everything and wanted to crawl all over the dirty floor of the barn!

I would have liked to get a few more photos, but it was time for dinner and we were all hungry.  No one wanted to pose for photos.

Cannon and Chris put the tree in the stand and Cannon watched as we put the lights on and a few ornaments.  I finished putting ornaments on after both of the boys were in bed.  I think I'll add some ribbon or ??? tomorrow.  We'll see.  It will be exciting to see how Colson responds to the tree and I'm excited to see Cannon's face once he sees it, too.

I'm praying it stays upright!

25 Days of Books

This year I am copying an idea I read:  Cannon will unwrap one Christmas book each night.  I am currently searching my stash and have collected and wrapped 9 books so far.

Tonight, December 1st, Cannon opened his first "present" and we read it together before bedtime.  He just happened to choose the book about the birth of Baby Jesus, which was a great first book to start with.  We had a nice discussion about the meaning of Christmas.  I always enjoy reading with Cannon but the Christmas books will give our time another dimension.  I'm excited for tomorrow night!

Reflecting on the Weekend

Today I was going through the pictures from the weekend.  There was a lot going on that I documented with photos. Here are a few thoughts from the weekend...

When I went upstairs, Cannon was washing his hands at the kitchen sink.  When I came back down, he was IN the kitchen sink.  He was so cute in the sink...quiet, relaxing and enjoying the view out of the kitchen window.

It is tradition that I pull out the Christmas boxes and start decorating the day after Thanksgiving.  Colson was helping this year and his favorite decoration was the silver garland.

The mess of toys the boys create...along with the mess I created from the Christmas items.

The boys started to take a bath together this weekend.  Colson likes the room he has in the tub and all of the "new" bath toys.  Cannon likes to show Colson all of the toys in the tub and is a great big brother!

It was beautiful outside part of the weekend and we spent time enjoying the sun. Cannon, of course, hooked Colson up to the bungee cord so he, "couldn't get away."  Too funny!

We put batteries in the airplane this weekend and Colson has enjoyed playing it.  He's so darn cute!

Cannon is also enjoying the airplane!  He was hooked on the lights on the front propeller.

Colson's first Thanksgiving!  He loved eating everything we put in front of him!

Cannon has had fun watching marshmallows in the microwave.  They get huge.  Of course he eats them after that!

Chris is looking through the ads Thanksgiving night.  No, he didn't go shopping!

Sweet Cannon.  Love this kid!
