Happy Weekend

Weekends are wonderful.  Days to catch up.  Relax.  Accomplish things.  Sleep in.  Be together.  Do errands.  Sit.  Watch TV.  Play.  Play some more.

That's what we did this weekend.  It was a busy one, but it was a good one.

Saturday, Chris spent the day up in Lynnwood at Sebastian's store.  He is working on building a stage for live music.  Chris forgot to take pictures.  Next time.  I'm curious to see what it looks like.

Cannon had two birthday parties to attend.  The first was at Jumpin' Jack and Jill in Sumner.  Colson came also and they both played and played until they were red in the face and sweaty.  Cannon especially!  Thank you for a fun party Amelia! Both boys took naps when we got home and I had to wake them to go to the next party.  This one was for Brayden and it was at the movie theater.  They had fun making paper bag puppets, eating pizza and then ice cream!  Colson and I went home after Brayden opened presents and Cannon stayed to go to the movies with the rest of the kids.  They saw, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs II.  I didn't pick him up until 9pm and he was TIRED!

Sunday, the boys and I went to church in the morning.  Then they played when we got home and made a total mess of the living room.  We watched the first part of the Seahawks  and then decided to head to the movies, just Chris and I.  We were glad Tailia could come over and hang out with the boys.  We saw The Family with Robert DeNiro and Michelle Pfeiffer.  It was good...not great, but worth getting out by ourselves on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

We enjoyed the rest of the evening together, watching the recording of the second half of the Seahawk game.  They came back from 20-3 to win 23-20!  What a great end to the game!  I had made lentil soup in the crockpot and we had a yummy dinner.

Basically, we loved being home together, not having an agenda.  It was a good weekend.

Here are a few photos from the first birthday party:

And a few from the second birthday party:

Yahoo! New Pictures!

I picked up my disc of pictures today from our end of August family photoshoot.  I've said this before and it's still true...I just love looking at brand new pictures from a professional shoot.

Thanks to my friend and fellow teacher for taking the time out to take our pictures!

Enjoying every moment.

Fidalgo Bay

We spent last weekend up in Anacortes.  We camped at a great spot and our sites were right on the water. We loved the view and the access to the beach.  Cannon got soaked...fully clothed!  We found rocks to throw and shells to collect and crabs to look at.  There was plenty of room for riding bikes and there was also a paved trail that we walked and rode along.  The playground was right across from us, too.

We've already made reservations for the same time next year.  Looking forward to it!

Surprise!

Cannon got an early birthday present yesterday.  A whole month early!
And yes, it was a surprise.  (even for me!)

Cannon has been asking about a dirt bike for a while now.  We haven't really followed through because of the lack of riding area around here and not being sure if Cannon would enjoy riding a dirt bike.  But Cannon has persisted and has talked about it more and more.  Chris had been looking for a used bike on Craigslist without any luck. He ended up finding a new, off brand dirt bike and bought that instead.

Cannon was very excited when he saw the box and realized what it was.  I had no idea.  Surprise!

Cannon has ridden for the past two nights and has done quite well.  He only had a few tears the first night at the beginning.  He seems to have great balance, can shift well and makes the turns without any problems. We are totally impressed.  And Cannon has a grin on his face that can be seen from down the street.

He's got some more practicing to do around here on flat ground before we head to a track (which is what he wants to do.)

Another adventure....

Anacortes Farmers Market

We were spent the weekend up in Anacortes with Sebastian, Mindy and Dillon.  It's been a number of years since we've been there and Saturday we found the Farmers Market which is right along the waterfront.  The weather was perfect....hot, actually for our long pants and sweatshirts.

However Mindy and I enjoyed walking around and looking at all the booths.  We both bought some things...mostly veggies and treats!  And we all ate lunch there and enjoyed the live music.

I love Farmers Markets.

A Few Photos

I am sitting here listening to the rain pound the windows and roof.  We've had quite a few storms here in the last couple of days.  Our summer is definitely coming to an end.
Doors and windows are closed.
Long pants instead of shorts.
Shoes instead of flip flops.
Long sleeved shirts.
Boots.
Hot tea.
Snuggling on the couch with blankets.

So, as I say goodbye to summer, here are a few photos from earlier this month....

DC hiding in the rocks and grass.

All of my boys hanging out before bed.  #storytime

The new deck in progress.  (And Cannon not being very safe...)

"Watch me!"  I loved watching Cannon jump on the neighbors trampoline.
He was having so much fun!

Colson REFUSED to look at me.  He was helping me pick weeds.

I kept the bubble wrap from our new refrigerator.
The boys spent the morning jumping and popping.
It was so much fun to watch.  And I even joined in.  (very therapeutic!)

Great "Bee"havior

As Cannon was cleaning out his backpack from the day, he plopped down a bag with a big yellow bee on the front.  Inside was a big stuffed bee and a note.  Here is what the note said:

Hello,
I am Super Bee.  I am always on the look out for super bee-havior.  Each night I travel home with a child who has been kind, careful or caring at school.  Please make sure I return to school tomorrow to travel to another home.
Sincerely,
Super Bee

This is a proud parent moment, of course!
And more importantly, Cannon is proud of himself.  He earned this award and was recognized for being a good role model for behavior.

Great job, Cannon!

Saddle Up and Celebrate!

Today we got to celebrate Dillon's 5th birthday!

We spent all afternoon hanging out at Mindy and Sebastian's.  As always, we have a great time.  The kids absolutely LOVE playing and they NEVER want to go home!

Dillon's birthday western theme party.  Mindy had such cute decorations up.  Cannon and Colson looked very festive in their cowboy hats and bandannas.

One of the favorite events was the pinata.

The neighbors brought two horses and both Cannon and Colson rode twice.  Once by themselves and once together.

Projects

Oh, my.  Are we in the project mood around here!  Chris is taking the lead on most of these and that sure is nice!

We have decided to paint the trim on our house and hired someone to come and do it.  They started today and it looks pretty good.  I can't wait to see it all done.  It's hard to look at it with the trim half blue and half brown.

Chris has been working hard on the deck off of our bedroom.  I'm excited to have it finished so we can use it!  However, until we put the french doors in, we'll have to climb through the window!  Haha!

The deck is our next project and we'll start ripping up the old deck probably this weekend.  The new deck will extend to the end of the house and Chris is planning to build in a BBQ and a counter, which will go under the new deck outside our bedroom.

We also ordered new appliances and have the dishwasher installed.  The rest will be here Saturday and I am looking forward to getting them in!  All stainless steal.  What a difference they will make in the looks of the kitchen.

Last, we ordered new countertops.  Our old one is coming apart at the seam and was cheap anyway.  So we picked out a new top made out of quartz.  A bit darker in some aspects but should tie in nicely with our current cabinets and new appliances.  And they will also be installing a new under the counter sink. Everything should be installed in about 2-3 weeks.  I can't wait.

Pictures coming soon!

Enjoying every moment.

Milwaukee 110

Chris traveled by motorcycle back to the 110th Anniversary for Harley Davidson.  He went with Sebastian and two other people.  It took them five days to ride back and then they spent 4 days at the celebration/party for Harley.

What a great experience and a fun time!  I wish I could get Chris to write about it here.

Here are a few highlights that he told me.

*His butt hurt like crazy the first couple of days.
*Riding through Montana, through Yellowstone and up to Mount Rushmore was absolutely gorgeous.
*It was hot, hot, hot.
*South Dakota was boring to ride through.
*The HD dealership in South Dakota was awesome and had a huge "man cave."
*Downtown Milwaukee is beautiful.
*There were thousands and thousands of bikes.  There were bikes from every state except Hawaii and also bikes from all over the world.
*The food at the VIP events was great.
*Lynard Skynard was awesome in concert.
*The Harley Museum was absolutely amazing.
*His favorite bikes were the old school ones from way back.
*He enjoyed hanging out with Sebastian.
*It was a once in a lifetime trip but was glad to be home after being gone for 9 days.
