Cannon went on a field trip last week to Maris Farms, the huge pumpkin patch down the street from our school. All of the Kindergarten and Early Kindergarten classes went. The weather was chilly but dry, thank goodness. You never know at this time of year in the Northwest!
Cannon enjoyed the pumpkin patch. When I asked him about it, he didn't have much to say except that it was fun. Another mom took some pictures for me! (hooray!)
Isn't he cute?!

Count Your Teeth!
This morning Colson had a dentist appointment. His last visits have gone okay....never great...or even good. Colson was always apprehensive and ended up sitting on my lap for the dentist to look at his teeth.
Today was different. There was some apprehension, but they got x-rays for the first time and Colson did awesome! And then Colson sat right up in the chair, put his headphones on and watched a movie. He was content while the dental assistant cleaned his teeth and the dentist came to check his teeth.
Colson got to pick TWO toys and was so happy to receive TWO tubes of toothpaste! He stood proudly with his no cavity certificate and held onto his bag with all of his goodies.
I was so proud of him! Great job, Colson!

Party, party, party!
Yesterday Cannon had his birthday party here at the house. He invited four friends over, plus family and neighbors. It was a great day!
The boys played outside and got a lot of energy out.
Cannon enjoyed opening presents. He took his time and read each card.
Cannon asked for cupcakes for his birthday. So that's what we had!
Here is what Cannon said about the day:
It was fun. I liked that that boys came. There was only one girl, McKenna. I liked celebrating. The cupcakes were yummy. The John Deere tractor and plow was the best toy.
Cannon invited Alex, Evan, Lucas and Brayden. Jake and McKenna came, too. They are 5th graders that I know, both of which have brothers who were invited. Colson slept through the first part of the party!
The boys had a great time playing, making a mess and eating cupcakes and treats. We put in the movie, The Kroods, and they watched (kind of) as they played!
Great day. Great party. Great friends. Great family. Great neighbors.
And a very special birthday boy!

Happy Birthday, Cannon!
Six.
Six years old.
Wow! We are so blessed to have Cannon in our lives for six years and today we celebrated him!
Cannon is such a special boy. This past year, he has accomplished so much. He finished Early Kindergarten and started all day Kindergarten. He learned to ride a motorcycle. He can read. He is developing into quite an artist.
Cannon is also a great friend. Has a kind heart. Wants to please. Is a perfectionist. Loves to play. Enjoys watching movies. Would rather be home than anywhere else. Can be silly. Needs lots of sleep. Enjoys donuts and hot chocolate for treats. Likes playing on the tablet. Loves to be read to before bed.
We love him so much and are so very proud of the young boy he is becoming.

Cannon's VIP Day
Friday was Cannon's VIP day! He was beyond excited. Add to that Autumfest, his birthday party and family staying at our house, Cannon couldn't hardly stand it!
For VIP day, Cannon got to wear a crown all day. He shared a poster that he filled out all about himself that included pictures and words. Then Cannon's friends shared things that were special about him and Mrs. Webster wrote them down all around his poster. (Which we now have hanging in the kitchen on the pantry door!)
Cannon then got to hand out the treats his brought. Thursday Cannon and I mixed up a fun gorp that included M & M's, pretzels, marshmallows, candy corn and golden grahams. He helped put spoonfuls into baggies, zipped them up and counted over and over to make sure there were enough bags.
Finally, Mrs. Webster read the book that Cannon donated to the class in honor of his VIP day. Of course it was a non-fiction book titled, Things That Go.

10 Things Right Now
1. We are enjoying the beautiful fall weather that is upon us. The mornings are cool and crisp and the afternoons are sunny and bright. The leaves are every shade of fall and just breathtaking. The boys are loving the opportunity to play outdoors and ride their bikes.
2. Cannon's birthday is just around the corner and he is beyond excited. We are preparing for a small party on Saturday with a few of his buddies. He has requested to watch a movie and have cupcakes.
3. Colson loves books and is really into all sorts of non-fiction books. He loves books on construction equipment, trains, trucks, fire fighters, police, etc. We have read the same books over and over a million times. Thank goodness for the library so we can supplement. He is starting to "read" on his own, pointing to the words and telling about the picture.
4. Grandpa and Grandma Anderson are coming over tomorrow. They are on their way to Arizona and will spend about five days here with us. We are looking forward to having them here and the boys love to spend time with them. Karin is also coming for a visit this weekend to help celebrate Cannon's birthday! She'll be here Thursday night and stay through the weekend.
5. We've taken the side off of Colson's crib. Of course he fell out the first night, so Chris set up the side off center so Colson has a "door" to get in and out of. Our hope is that he can get out when he wakes up in the morning and play in his room instead of screaming for mom and waking us up. However now he's been sleeping in a bit. (hooray!) We'll see how he does on the weekend when we really want to sleep in!
6. Cannon is going on a field trip tomorrow to Maris Farms. Thank goodness the weather will be nice. I'm not going, but am excited to hear about his trip.
7. Chris has spent some time working on some chores around the house. He's hung up some new pictures/signs, cleaned the gutters and washed the garage door and cut all of the bushes around the front of the house. Everything looks so great!
8. Friday night is our Autumfest at school. It's a great evening for the whole community. Kids trick or treat to each classroom. It's fun to see all of the kids (many current and former students) dressed up in their costumes. It is one of my favorite events of the year.
9. Cannon is playing soccer on a rec league through the district. He's on a team with kids from Mountain Meadow. They have one more practice and then games start. All of the kids have limited soccer skills. It's very cute to watch them play!
10. It's getting closer to report card time. Conference slips have gone home and we will be scheduling conferences soon. That means hours of time on the computer filling out report cards and writing comments. Sigh. However I do enjoy meeting with parents and sharing about their child's progress. Of course, we love going to Cannon's conference and seeing/hearing about his learning, too!

Pumpkin Carving Time
October.
Fall.
Cooler weather.
Fires.
Blankets.
Changing Leaves.
Pumpkins.
Today we enjoyed another pumpkin carving party at Sebastian and Mindy's. They have a great house for gatherings. Add great food, a fire crackling, pumpkins and some fun people....you have all of the ingredients for a memorable afternoon.
This year Cannon and Colson were more into the pumpkin carving. Both wanted to help and be involved. Cannon helped Chris and Colson stuck close to me. We worked at cleaning out the insides. Cannon helped Chris do some cutting on their pumpkin. Colson wanted to help me but it was a bit too difficult for him. (and kind of dangerous!)
We enjoyed a fabulous Taco Bar. I had two helpings of the chicken chili they made. It was so great! Of course Mindy had some yummy treats, too. Kettle Corn and Caramel Apples....and a few other things. Oh my. I am so full!
The boys had fun playing with the other kids and all the toys. They also rode bikes outside and soaked up the last bits of light before dusk.
As always, it was a great time. It's fun to do things like that. Thank you to Mindy and Sebastian for being such generous hosts and great friends!

A Few Hours Away
Chris and I got out of the house for a few hours last night. Claire watched the boys so we could go out to dinner. The boys were ecstatic to go to Claire's to play! They hardly knew that we left!
Chris and I went to Red Robin and had a great meal. It was nice to be out without kids, with time to relax and not be in a hurry. After dinner, we shopped around some, buying a few small things. It was fun to walk around and look at things. Then we hit Baskin and Robbins for some ice cream before heading home. So yummy and it hit the spot.
We were only gone for three hours but it was great! Thanks, Claire!

A Few Miscellaneous Shots
Here are a few miscellaneous shots from the first part of October.
Enjoying every moment.
Watching a DVD in the car. The boys often like to watch
a show or movie as we are traveling. We watch a lot
of non-fiction and I know way more than I should about
loaders, trucks and trains!
I find art supplies all over the place. This was Colson's
work one day.
A picture of Colson while we were at the pumpkin patch.
Cannon, looking kind of annoyed that I am taking
his picture!
Washing the car on a beautiful, fall, October day.
Cannon working on his motorcycle. I have a feeling
there will be a lot of these kinds of pictures in the future.
Grading. Booooo. The worst part of the job.
Hours and hours.
Watching the Seahawks play on Thursday night football.
They beat Arizona and are 6-1 so far.

New
Getting new things is cool.
Usually it's a new shirt or new pencils or a scrapbooking item.
But this "new" is even better.
Last week we had new counter tops put in and Chris put in the new back splash. This sure makes our new appliances look pretty good, too! Oh, and we got a new sink as well!
The pictures don't really show how great everything looks. The kitchen sure does look nice. We are very blessed!

A Different 'Patch'
This afternoon the boys and I took advantage of the amazing sunny, fall day and walked to Tom's Pumpkin Patch down the road from our house. Well, Cannon rode his bike and I pulled Colson in the wagon. It was a wonderful walk and we enjoyed it!
Tom's is a very small pumpkin patch. You pay by the honor system. No one else was there so the boys got to run around, play in the mud and I took a lot of pictures. We all picked out a pumpkin and then headed back home.
Quick trip. Lots of fun.

Birthday at the Patch
Today we celebrated one of Cannon's classmates birthday. Annabelle had her party at Thomasson Family Farms in Enumclaw. It was raining when I woke up this morning but the weather cleared and we had a nice morning for the birthday celebration.
Thommason Pumpkin Patch has a great area for birthday parties which is close to the animals, the tricycle track, a climbing area made out of hay with lots of slides and the corn pit. Cannon really enjoyed himself playing and doing everything. Colson stuck close to me but did have a lot of fun in the corn pit and would have stayed there and played a lot longer.
After the cupcakes and presents, we were 'free' to roam around the rest of the pumpkin patch. They had a lot of kid friendly areas. The boys rode on a train pulled behind a tractor. The tractor was the big hit, of course. There was also a huge area full of activities for the kids to engage in: milking a pretend cow, bubbles, slides, cow roping, climbing, sandbox, etc.
I had to pull the boys away. They would have stayed for hours, but it was passed lunch time and Colson's nap time.
It sure was a great way to spend our morning!
