Dentist
Cannon had a dentist appointment today. Of course, he did fabulous. It helps that everyone at the dentist office is so friendly. It helps that Cannon got to watch part of CARS 2 when they cleaned his teeth! Cannon picked out a small toy and a green balloon, then got his picture taken for the "No Cavity Wall."
The Yellow Balloon
While at the dentist, Colson immediately saw the balloons and thankfully, they let him have one. That balloon was in his hand ALL DAY LONG except to nap. And he cried when Jana took it away for naptime! Jana said he even ate lunch while holding the yellow balloon! When the boys were dropped off at school, Colson was holding on to the balloon and never let go. He wandered around the room. He ate a cookie. He went outside and climbed up on the big toy. All with the balloon string tightly in his hand. When we left, he held onto that balloon while I buckled him in the car! I think it is safe to say that Colson loves balloons!
Work for Janel
I am in shock at it is June 1st tomorrow! We are down to only 9 1/2 days of school left for kids plus three more full days of workshops for teachers. I am working on cleaning out files and drawers when I can. The recycling baskets in my room are being filled almost daily! This weekend will be spent on report cards and for the next two weeks we will be winding things up in the classroom. I'll be packing everything and moving from Room 102, where I have been for the last 13 years, to Room 402! Let the new adventure begin.
Work for Chris
Busy. Busy. Busy. Business is picking up, which is good. But there is never a dull moment! The swing shift crew is growing and a mechanic needs to be hired full time. The "busyness" of work means there isn't a lot of time (or energy) left for the handful of projects Chris has on his plate. Hopefully, he can prioritize and get some finished and out of the way so he can relax a bit!
So glad that tomorrow is Friday.
Enjoying every moment!

Random Thoughts on Random Shots
Boys and trailers = hours of play!
Cannon received the letter he mailed to himself while on his field trip!
A Friday night out for ice cream. Yummy!
Colson driving the boat. He's very serious!
Cannon has really enjoyed riding on the 3-wheelers!
Usually when I have to wake Colson up, he pops right up and is ready to go. But sometimes he's in such a deep sleep that I am able to stand over him, watch him sleep and just take in the precious boy that he is.
Enjoying every moment.

Celebrate Today
Can I have more days like this one, please!
Relaxed.
Scrapbooked.
Shopped.
Picked up.
Weeded.
Exercised.
Hung out.
Laughed.
Planted.
Enjoyed.
Cooked.
Organized.
Watched.
Fabulous day.
And the best part is that we have tomorrow to do the same things all over again!

Today I Want to Remember...
Today I want to remember how glorious it was outside!
Today I want to remember how happy Cannon is when he wakes up and comes in our bedroom to talk with us.
Today I want to remember how Chris and Cannon made a panda pancake. Cannon and I had drawn a panda pancake from a drawing book the night before. Cannon brought down the paper "for directions" and insisted on making it this morning!
Today I want to remember how Colson found his way to the neighbors trailer and was trying to turn the handle on the jack. We have another kid who loves trailers!
Today I want to remember how I was able to sit outside and read for a short time.
Today I want to remember our trip to Ray and Maryanne's boat. We got to hang out, visit and enjoy the weather and the water.
Today I want to remember how incredibly well behaved both boys were while at the boat. Colson didn't get an afternoon nap but persevered. Both Cannon and Colson find interest in everything, keeping themselves busy! They are fun to watch, listen to and are very easy to take care of!
Today I want to remember how wonderful it is to tuck Cannon into bed. I love reading to him. Tonight we read poems from Shel Silverstein and then we talked about the day. Finally, Cannon said, "Mom can you please sing me a song." So of course I did. Three songs, in fact!
Today I want to remember how great it is to relax after the boys are in bed. I love getting lost in Pinterest, finding recipes, going through emails, looking things up, etc.
Enjoying every moment.

Thursday Three
Here are three "things" on Thursday:
1. Dominoes.
I received a set of Mayan Dominoes from a student today. (No directions, so I'm not sure how to play!) But Cannon thought those were cool and played with them in the morning before school. When we got home, he played with them some more and then borrowed Auntie Brenda's domino set tonight. He's enjoying looking at the pieces, stacking them, cleaning them up and then dumping them out of the container again.
2. Colson's Bath.
Colson has not been enjoying baths, however the last few nights he has started to like them again....after a few minutes of screaming. After he finishes crying, he starts to play and loves the toys, loves to splash and loves to laugh. Now, he actually cries when I take him out! I can't win!
3. Science.
We are in the middle of a science unit on air. The first graders are loving it, learning a lot about air and enjoying the experiments. Yesterday we explored bubbles. After making bubbles by blowing into a straw that was placed in a cup of water, they realized the bubbles, created by air, would pop just as quickly as they created them. Enter the soap. We sure did create a lot of bubbles! The kids learned that the soap film traps the air, making a bubble. So fun!

Walking!
Colson is finally walking. Finally!
He's been so close for such a long time.
Walking behind toys confidently.
Walking around furniture without the blink of an eye.
After a few weeks of a few steps here and a few steps there, he is finally taking off.
It's exciting to see him walking around and makes him look older! We are so used to him crawling.
I've been trying to get pictures of him for awhile, but am always too late!
So tonight I was able to snap a few. They aren't very good, but they show Colson is on the move!

Happy Days
These two weekend days were definitely happy days.
However they weren't 'happy' because of anything grandiose.
We didn't go anywhere special.
It was a pretty normal weekend.
But we were all happy.
That is because happiness comes from within. In order to be happy you don't have to leave the house or spend money or accomplish a lot.
We look at things in "the glass is half full" kind of way. This is easy for the boys to do, but not always so easy for Chris and I! Thankfully, we have taken some good lessons from our 4 year old and 1 year old! We have learned how the little things can make you happy.
- This weekend happiness came from a basket of toys that I brought out...one the boys hadn't seen in months.
- This weekend happiness came from baking bread, making pancakes from scratch, making a yummy dinner.
- This weekend happiness came from sitting by the outdoor fire.
- This weekend happiness came from one on one time with each of the boys.
- This weekend happiness came from driving the Chevelle.
- This weekend happiness came from having time to read my book.
- This weekend happiness came from a clean house.
- This weekend happiness came from playing outside.
- This weekend happiness came from relaxing and watching racing.
- This weekend happiness came from watching Colson walk.
- This weekend happiness came from the four of us hanging out together in bed on Sunday morning.
- This weekend happiness came from listening to Cannon talk about his day.
- This weekend happiness came from receiving flowers from Chris just because.
- This weekend happiness came from reading books to the boys.
- This weekend happiness came from exercising.
- This weekend happiness came from sitting down to meals together.
- This weekend happiness came from lollipops.
- This weekend happiness came from a visit to the pet store to look at animals.
The list goes on and on.
Happiness is everywhere. It's all how you perceive things.
Enjoying every moment.

Preschool Field Trip
Today Cannon went on a field trip to Buckley.
Chris went with him and they spent a couple of hours finding different places around town.
First, they met at the library and Ms. Teresa read a book about, "the little girl who lost her bunny and she found it in the library." Cannon liked that story and told me about it in the car on the way home this afternoon. After the book, they sang Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes. Chris said Cannon didn't do many of the actions. Finally, they wrote letters to themselves and mailed them at the post office! What a great idea.
Before the preschoolers set off to find the places on the map, they got a snack: gummies and a butterfly cookie.
When I asked Cannon about the best part of the trip he said it, "was the little chicks! Cause they were so cute and so tiny."
He also said that he like being with his friend Maddy. "Maddy stayed with me and I stayed with her. We found a good song. (at the Senior Center - You Are My Sunshine) And there was a cool guy there cause he had a white beard and he was big. They were in real life."
Chris said they both enjoyed the trip and Cannon asked to go back and see the baby chicks two more times! Those were definitely his favorite! They also visited the police station, found the fire station, saw a logging truck up close and played in the park! What a fun field trip.
Thank you to Chris for going with Cannon and taking lots of pictures!

Recently
Recently, Colson has been fussy because he is teething. He has at least four teeth coming in and probably more that haven't broken through yet. The poor kid is chewing on his hands and drooling like crazy.
Recently, Colson has been scared of taking baths. He had been doing okay, but now screams at the top of his lungs when I put him in the tub. At times, he will bail over the side head first. I feel bad, but we keep getting in the tub almost every night so he can get used to it. He was fine with baths in the tub a month ago. I'm not sure what has changed.
Recently, we are working on selling the big boat. We are hoping and praying for a buying to come along that will enjoy the boat just as much as we have. Chris has been down at the boat cleaning from the winter months and doing some TLC work.
Recently, Cannon has been even more into trucks and big rigs. His drawings are becoming more detailed and his conversations are almost always about trucks.
Recently, I was given my tentative teaching assignment for next year: 4th grade! There is still a lot of things that have to "shake out" so who knows.
Enjoying every moment.

Getting Away
It was time for another get away for the Ross family.
Time to hit the road.
Time to get out of dodge.
A forced relaxation.
This weekend was about being together.
This weekend was about family.
This weekend was about relaxation.
This weekend was about having fun.
This weekend was about creating memories.
This weekend was about sitting in the sun.
This weekend was about riding quads.
We loved watching Cannon ride his quad around the dunes. He was apprehensive at first, but gained confidence with every ride.
We loved watching Colson ride around on his little green quad. He would ride into the dirt/sand, stop and get out and play, then ride back!
We loved having my parents and sister visit us, hang out, talk, laugh, eat, catch up, etc.
We loved the sun and the very warm weather!
Love weekends where we can get away.
Love weekends where I can catch up and read.
Love weekends where I actually sit and do nothing.
Love weekends where we get to sit in front of the fire.
Enjoying every moment.
