Cruizin'

Off we go on another motorcycle trip.

This year, we were headed east to Montana.  We left Thursday afternoon and rode over Chinook Pass. It was hazy from all of the fires around, but it was still beautiful and we got to see part of the mountain.  We stopped at Whistling Jacks for lunch and to cool off.  The ride to Spokane was hot!  It was over 100 degrees after coming down the pass.  At one point, we pulled off into a rest area and ran through the sprinklers!  After a nice ride, we made it to Karin's place.

Karin joined us for the rest of our trip and Friday morning we took off for Sandpoint.  The drive there was easy and beautiful.  This was the first time to Sandpoint for us.  We stopped for Starbucks and walked around the park and shoreline. It was too early for the stores to be open so we headed on, and into Montana.   And it got warmer as the day went on!  We ended up riding around the west side of Flathead lake looking for a hotel or motel on the water.  But there isn't much out there and the few that were there, were booked.  So we found a motel across from the lake in Polson, MT.  It was old, not very nice, but clean.  :/

In Idaho, we found a great antique store that was huge and had a ton of stuff.  We'll have to come back with a car (or truck) at a later date!

After leaving Polson, we tried to beat the rain which was forecast for all around the hills of Montana. However, we hit the rain only a short time out of town and were in it for a couple of hours.  After being soaking wet, we changed our plans and stopped in Kellogg, Idaho at Silver Mountain Resort. They have an indoor water park, so we were happy to get out of our wet clothes and head to the hot tub!

We spent the rest of the day hanging out in the water park and around Kellogg.  It was a perfect way to relax and fun to do something we wouldn't normally do!  We sure did have fun going down the water slides!  Lots of laughs!

Chris and I got out for a nice walk and spent time at the Kellogg museum learning about the history of Kellogg.  Kellogg is a mining town and it was great to learn about the numerous mines around this whole area.  We also took a ride up the gondola to Silver Mountain.  It's a 3 mile ride up and climbs to over 5,000 feet.  It was a beautiful ride and we spent a little bit of time walking around up on top. With more time, we would have gone on a hike.

Overall, our trip was fun, eventful and took us to new places.  It's great to get away without kids, too!
Enjoying every moment.
