The After Christmas Tree

Earlier this month, we read the book, The After Christmas Tree to Cannon.  It is about a family that continued to "give" by decorating their Christmas tree (after the Christmas decorations had come down) with food for the birds and other animals in their yard.  Cannon liked this idea and it has been a topic of conversation for the last few weeks.

Today we finally decorated our 'After Christmas Tree.'  We put peanut butter on pine cones and rolled them in birdseed.  We popped popcorn and strung it to made a garland.  Cannon enjoyed hanging these 'decorations' on tree which we had saved out in the back yard.

We both got a bit sticky from the peanut butter and there was birdseed everywhere.  (Cannon even tasted some, but spit it out!)  But it was fun and hopefully we'll spot some birds enjoying the gift we gave to them!
