Five on Friday

 Grandparents Day
Today at school we celebrated Grandparents Day.  The room was packed with kids and grandparents.  It is a special day for everyone.  I read a story called, The Giant Hug which is about a child who sends a hug through the mail to his granny.  Next, the grandparents and grandchildren created an art project together.  We kept the art project and later in the day after the grandparents left, the students finished the project and put it in the mail (along with a "hug") to their grandparents.  Of course, we had a snack together before the grandparents left, too.  Apples, bananas and juice!

Weather
Wow, we have had almost two weeks of fabulous weather.  The temperatures have been in the upper 70's to near 90.  The warmth is wonderful and it sure brightens every ones spirits.  A few afternoons have been pretty hot, which makes the classroom very muggy and unbearable.  The upstairs in the house is awfully warm, too.  The evenings are the best...when the temperature starts to drop a bit and we can play in the yard and relax.

MarDon
Chris headed off today to MarDon, which is near Othello.  He called me at 12:30 pm and was just pulling out of the driveway!  Lucky him.  There is a big jet boat gathering and Greg and Brenda were already there.  We thought about going, but decided to stay home for various reasons.  So Chris is going solo this weekend.  He had issues with the motor home on the way over and hopefully he can figure things out so he can get home Sunday.  I did talk to him tonight and it's very hot over there.  He says the campground "is just a campground" and the beach "is muddy."  And the power isn't working at the campsites.  So I'm thinking I made a good decision not to go! :)

Drawing
Cannon and I spent a long time this evening drawing together.  Cannon got out pencils and pens and crayons and a bunch of paper.  We laid on the floor of the bonus room and drew faces, then people, then just "things."  When I asked Cannon what he was drawing, he made up nonsense words for them.  It's fun to watch Cannon because he draws very intently with his tongue out!  He had me draw a big circle, just like he did and then we were coloring it in.  I was coloring side to side and he was coloring up and down.  He told me to draw up and down "like how pistons go.  You know, up and down."  When I finished coloring in my circle, he said, "Stop.  You're done.  Now take a big breath in and let it out."  He is just too funny!

Colson
Today, Colson woke up about 6:25 am.  He was on his belly when I went into his room to get him.  He always wakes up so happy and content.  He sits on our bed in the morning and watches us get ready.  He just smiles these amazing smiles that melt your heart!.  He is napping for 2-3 hours in the morning and taking a shorter afternoon nap.  He had a great day at Jacie's and likes to play with Annabelle, who is 6 weeks older than him.  Colson is now sitting up on his own and he likes that.  He had squash for lunch and pears for dinner.  He watched Cannon do everything this evening.  He was in bed by 7pm...sound asleep!

A few pictures from this evening:

No truck, no problem.  Cannon can still hook up a hitch
without a truck.  He figured this out all on his own.

Everything in his mouth!

War wounds from playing with Alex today.

Enjoying the warm weather outside!

Enjoying every moment.
