All of the kids sure had a great time at the lake and they didn't need much to enjoy theymselves. I was reminded how much we can learn from kids about the joys of life. They find joy in the little things.
Here are a few of those "little things" from the kids...those moments that are so full of joy.
- playing in the mud, making moats, throwing mud balls.
- wading in the water, swimming, splashing.
- floating on the tube...pulling it in and pushing it out over and over and over again.
- running around, playing tag, laughing.
- picking up rocks and sticks; using them to build, to splash, to throw.
- sleeping on the floor...who needs a bed!
- eating big pieces of watermelon.
Here are a few of the "little things" from the 'big kids'.....
- hanging out at the beach.
- telling old stories.
- some (we won't say who) getting a little tipsy.
- sitting around the deck and talking
- eating dessert...too much of it!
- pulling the kids on the tube.
The constant laughter and joy coming from the adults as we hung out was wonderful, too!
As I write this, I'm reminded that we didn't need lots of 'stuff' to make our joyful memories. All those 'extra' things don't make the memories....we do. We sure did make a lot this weekend!
Enjoying every moment.
