It's The Little Things

We always enjoy our time here at the lake and this weekend was especially great because a lot of family were visiting as well.  Karin and Phil came with Maddy and Jake.  Travis and Teresa spent the weekend at Kay and Karen's.  And Todd and Sarah came down Saturday morning with Ashley and Jordan.  I love so much that we all continue to gather and catch up on our lives, laugh, eat, hang out, tell stories, recall memories and just have a great time.

All of the kids sure had a great time at the lake and they didn't need much to enjoy theymselves.  I was reminded how much we can learn from kids about the joys of life.  They find joy in the little things.

Here are a few of those "little things" from the kids...those moments that are so full of joy.
  • playing in the mud, making moats, throwing mud balls.
  • wading in the water, swimming, splashing.
  • floating on the tube...pulling it in and pushing it out over and over and over again.
  • running around, playing tag, laughing.
  • picking up rocks and sticks; using them to build, to splash, to throw.
  • sleeping on the floor...who needs a bed!
  • eating big pieces of watermelon.

Here are a few of the "little things" from the 'big kids'.....
  • hanging out at the beach.
  • telling old stories.
  • some (we won't say who) getting a little tipsy.
  • sitting around the deck and talking
  • eating dessert...too much of it!
  • pulling the kids on the tube.
The constant laughter and joy coming from the kids as they played with water and sand was wonderful.
The constant laughter and joy coming from the adults as we hung out was wonderful, too!

As I write this, I'm reminded that we didn't need lots of 'stuff' to make our joyful memories. All those 'extra' things don't make the memories....we do.  We sure did make a lot this weekend!

Enjoying every moment.
